Uncovered hydrant on Circle-GBC stretch poses danger to pedestrians

An uncovered hydrant on the pedestrian walkway, the Ghana Immigration Service lane, of the Circle-GBC stretch in Accra is posing a risk to passersby.

It is not immediately known the reason why the said hydrant’s cover has been taken off completely. But what is clear is that pedestrians stand the risk of falling into the rubbish-filled hydrant.

Pedestrians who use the stretch – especially those who walk-text – are advised to tread cautiously so they do not fall into open hydrant.

The Ghana National Fire Service and the Ghana Water Company recently locked horns over whose mandate it was to ensure that these hydrants, in our cities, are filled with water and effectively manned in the wake of the Makola Market fire outbreak.
