The Ghana Police Service have arrested some sixteen (16) individuals who were part of some thugs who invaded the studios of UTV yesterday, October 7.
The said thugs stormed the station’s studios when the entertainment show, United Showbiz, was in session.
A statement shared on the police’s official social media handles says, “Following a complaint from the Despite Media Group and Ministry of Information that certain people had invaded the studios of U-TV this evening, the police proceeded to the scene and arrested sixteen (16) persons in connection with the incident.”
That statement added that the arrested persons are currently at the police station assisting investigations. Meanwhile, earlier, the New Patriotic Party distanced itself from the incident. The party’s Communications Director, Richard Ahiagbah, said they did not commission anyone to storm UTV.
