Ashanti region records 73 fire incidents two weeks into 2022

The Ashanti region has recorded 73 cases of fire incidents, exactly two weeks into the new year as authorities say it is alarming.

Ashanti Regional Fire Commander, Samuel Brenya, told Aniwaba in an interview that the figures are “serious” as compared with same period last year.

“Two weeks into January 2021, we recorded about 52 fire incidents. If you compare it with this year’s figures, it is a huge difference,” he said.

Mr. Brenya said that most of the fires are usually doused by residents before his team gets to the scenes, indicating that this shows that people now take fire education with the seriousness it deserves.

He advised the public to always adhere to instructions and also desist from acts that could cause fire outbreaks.
